A few notes before I begin... 1 Vorn = 100,000 Earth-years, approximately. Vorn 0 = Date Cybertron was liberated from Quintesson rule Vorn 12 = beginning of Great War Vorn 102 = Cybertronians awaken on Earth, 1984. Hook is the Constructicon leader in this 'universe', which is the cartoon universe, and it basically takes the first 2 seasons and parts of the movie as background (which parts should be evident from the first prologue ;). Without further ado, let me start out with the first prologue to Final Peace... -------- Encyclopedia Cybertronia Vol. 2345 GREAT WAR, THE .... _Final Years_ The final years of the war provided a strangely anticlimactic ending to the bitter nine-million-year struggle. By the year 2005 TR [ed - Terran Reckoning], the Decepticons had consolidated their hold on Cybertron, while the Autobots were forced to fall back to bases on its two small satellites. However, the Autobots were supplied with energy and materials through the Strategic Defense Pact concluded with Earth in the early days of the year, which also permitted for the building of Autobot City. The increasingly rapid technological advancement of Terran society made raiding progressively more difficult and costly for the Decepticons, and spurred them to make an all-out assault on Autobot City. During the ensuing battle, Megatron and Optimus Prime met in formal combat outside the city for what was to be the last time. The Decepticon commnder mortally wounded Prime, but was himself severly injured and weakened, to the point that Starscream was able to seize command. Starscream ordered a retreat aboard Astrotrain, leaving Autobot City damaged but intact. The Autobots, demoralized by Prime's death, nevertheless were comforted by his final act of passing on the Matrix of Leadership (see MATRIX, THE) to a trusted subordinate, Ultra Magnus, with a prophetic promise that a new leader would one day arise to become the true bearer of the Matrix. Meanwhile, as the Decepticons journeyed towards Cybertron, Starscream seized the moment of Megatron's vulnerability to set the Decepticon commander and the other seriously wounded adrift due to Astrotrain's inability to reach Cybertron with the load. Many historians have speculated that this pretext was engineered by Starscream and Astrotrain (See GREAT BETRAYAL, THE), a theory somewhat supported by the subsequent naming of Astrotrain as second-in-command following Starscream's coronation on Cybertron. It was at this point that a new threat to Cybertron's safety appeared. Unicron, a strange, planet-devouring robot of enormous size, approached the system and devoured the two moons in turn. The Autobots stationed there fled to Cybertron, where the Decepticons were mounting a desperate defense. Utilising an inversion of spacebridge technology devised by Perceptor and Starscream, they set up a distortion of space around the planet, blocking Unicron from approach at the cost of draining all energy reserves. Ultra Magnus and the Earth-stationed Autobots arrived as the distortion was on the verge of failing. Following the recommendation of Teletran-One, Ultra-Magnus drove his ship into Unicron and opened the Matrix there, setting off a massive chain reaction that caused Unicron to explode. Cybertron was devastated by the ensuing explosion. Left without energy, their defenses shattered and the bulk of the army injured if not slain, the Decepticons accepted the treaty the Autobots offered -- peace and joint government of Cybertron in exchange for disaster aid and relief. Charges were brought against Starscream approximately a decade later, accusing him of attempting to renew the conflict, but these allegations were never proven and the attempt was unsuccessful if true. The present governing format of the five-member Council of Leadership was settled upon at that time. The final peace treaty was signed in Vorn 102.0157 at Liberation Arch. ------- Well, there's part 1! :) Send comments, please!
